FAQ
What is Tenmoku Chawan Teaware?
Chawan tenmoku glazes are rich in iron, producing deep colors and lustrous surfaces. During firing, the iron develops natural patterns-such as oil spots or flowing streaks-making every piece uniquely distinctive.
Are they safe for food use?
Yes, they are completely 100% food safe.
Do they contain lead?
Because the clay is naturally sourced, it cannot be guaranteed to be 100% lead-free. However, any trace amount is below 0.01% and well within safe limits. The glaze uses natural iron ore and wood ash as fluxing agents, and no lead is used at any stage of the process.
